Pangea's Mobile Library Program is designed to help schools teach every child to become an expert reader. The service delivers relevant books, trains teachers in literacy instruction, and provides a robust amount of data to strategically improve learning.
Books
Children cannot become readers without access to a diverse variety of books. We provide a large selection of culturally and linguistically relevant local books for Ugandan students to grow a love of reading. Books are leveled so that students and teachers can introduce them as their literacy skills develop. These include series that incentivize students to want to be able to read the next book with their character as they grow.
We provide a mix of Pangea’s award winning content to help children see themselves in books, but also international texts that help children learn about others around the world.
Teacher Training
Books are essential tools to cultivate literacy skills and build a culture of reading. However, it is teachers that unlock their potential. Effective instruction and reading techniques are one of the most cost-effective returns on investment in education. We provide continuous trainings and in-class coaching sessions with teachers for every classroom we deliver books to. These trainings are our investment in ensuring books are being put to good use.
Teachers regard the trainings as an excellent professional development opportunity. All teachers who complete the year round training receive a certificate in literacy instruction.

Data
We collect data on the literacy progression of every classroom enrolled in the program. We use formative assessments with students that break down literacy progress by specific skills to help teachers target interventions - it is a more constructive and useful tool.
Teachers also receive data on their own teaching practices to help them continue to grow and learn to be the most effective educators for their students.
