This story takes place in the Buganda kingdom, which is the largest of the five kingdoms in Uganda and is located in the central region. The people in this cultural setting speak the Luganda language. The story teaches the importance of asking for help when we are in need, instead of resorting to stealing. Additionally, it highlights the value of sharing with others who may be lacking what we have. In the story, a village is suffering from a lack of food, and one animal, Monster, hoards all the food for itself. When Hare is unable to find food, he comes up with a plan to eat Monster's food.
