My Dream Sings
My Dream Sings
In Uganda, early and forced marriages are prevalent, especially among girls who are often forced to drop out of school to get married. This is largely due to cultural beliefs, a lack of value attached to educating girls, and high poverty rates. Unfortunately, girls are viewed as a source of wealth and often lack reproductive health information, making them vulnerable to early marriage.
To combat this problem, the government, NGOs, and various individuals have launched campaigns to provide girls with a second chance to continue their education and discourage parents from marrying off their children at an early age.
Despite facing pressure to marry at an early age due to cultural practices in her family, Naka remains determined to pursue her dreams and return to school.
