The largest of Uganda's five traditional kingdoms is Buganda, whose people speak the Luganda language and are led by a king who is believed to possess extraordinary powers. The king's leadership is safeguarded by the fear of potential attackers, who are deterred from threatening the kingdom.
In Central Uganda, a popular oral folklore story called "Rooster is king" piques the curiosity of children seeking to unravel the mysteries of the world. The story follows the Rooster, who guards a secret to protect his kingdom, but is challenged by inquisitive animals from neighboring kingdoms. Hare sets out on a quest to uncover the truth, and the story unfolds as he uncovers the mystery.
