This story was documented in the Jinja District, located in the cultural region of the Kingdom of Busoga, in eastern Uganda. The Basoga people, who speak the Lusoga language, call this region home. The Kingdom of Busoga is a traditional Bantu kingdom and one of the five constitutional monarchies in Uganda. It spans across eight districts of the country, including Jinja, where this story was collected. The story was recorded near the source of the River Nile, the second-longest river in the world, which begins at Lake Victoria and flows north to Egypt.

The story follows the disappearance of Nsangi, who fails to return from collecting firewood in the forest. Her mother embarks on a brave quest to find her daughter. However, the forest is also the habitat of chimpanzees that sometimes prey on vulnerable children for sport. The story highlights the courage and unwavering love between a mother and her daughter.
